King Hamad University Hospital Research Studies from 2012-2018
From 2012 - 2018, comprehensive audit of all research proposals was performed in order to verify research proposal statistics and status of the approved research projects in KHUH
 
Currently, Research and Ethics committee issued 386 approval letters for the research proposals, 7 more proposals are currently under review of the committee members.
 
All proposals were classified as:
On-going (active research in the phase of data collection, data analysis, writing of the results and evaluation of findings, preparation of the final report)
Stagnant/On-hold (paused projects due to the lack of resources/patient recruitment)
Completed (research completed, either with presentation/publication or thesis as result)
Deleted (abandoned, withdrawn by investigators, discontinued).
Detailed statistics for the departments is presented in the table below, as well as graphs showing the number of approvals in each department, number of completed projects and number of on-going research projects.
 
After approval, review of all files for the active projects would be performed and detailed project status reports would be requested from investigators.

The King Hamad Clinical Simulation and Proficiency Centre was established in 2016 with the aim of providing state-of-the-art Health Professional training. Advanced clinical simulators and other educational tools will be used to create a high-fidelity immersive learning environment for clinicians and other Health Professionals. Simulation models mirror real-world scenarios but in a safe and interactive setting, allowing for mistakes to be made and learned from. The objective of this facility is to challenge Healthcare Professionals and maximize their potential while simultaneously improving patient safety and quality of care. Simulation.center@khuh.org.bh
 
Conferences and Courses
King Hamad University Hospital strives to be at the forefront of up-to-date evidence based clinical practice and encourages healthcare professionals to participate in conferences/courses, which ensures implementation of evidence based medicine. The number of conferences conducted annually is 9, including the ethical symposium and critical care conferences. The number of courses/workshops conducted per year is 9, including the Manchester triage and laparoscopic surgery skills courses.
